Cuisinart Griddler
Initially founded in 1971 as a company marketing a European brand of food processor to the U.S. market, Cuisinart not only moved from distributor to manufacturer but also diversified into the manufacture of a number of other kitchen appliances over the years, not the least of which is the respected Cuisinart Griddler range of grills and presses. These have very much set the benchmark for this category of kitchen appliance. As with any product you care to think of, there will always be a wide spectrum from what one might call cheap and nasty to expensive and often overpriced. Cuisinart have made a habit of finding that sweet spot between these two extremes. They have achieved this by focusing on quality construction, reliability and an affordable price point. This has very much been the mantra of Cuisinart's founders, Carl and Shirley Sontheimer. Even though the company passed on to new owners since its inception (sold by the Sontheimers in 1988), the commitment to these three ideals has never faltered.
Despite the kichen appliance segment being a highly competitive one with players such as Sunbeam, Breville and others competing on price to cut into Cuisinart's market share, Cuisinart have not wavered in their commitment to bringing quality products to the market at an affordable price. In this respect, the Cuisinart Griddler range is no exception. What they have also brought to the table with these units is a level of innovation and creativity that the competition struggles to compete with.

As one might expect, Cuisinart have tried to cover all the bases as
regards user requirements when it comes to choosing this type of appliance. Our situations in terms of our lifestyles vary from on the go singles or couples to the family unit and as such our needs are very different. The Cuisinart GR-4N for example, combines five functions in the one unit and has the capacity to cater to a family. The Cuisinart GR-35 on the other hand, whilst also providing five functions, does so in a much smaller form factor and is probably more suited to the busy single or couple. The other models are more specialized, catering to those who just want a particular function. The Cuisinart GR-1 for example, functions as a sandwich press only, while the Cuisinart GR-55 is a grill or griddle only. Th
e Cuisinart GC-17N ia good example of Cuisinart's innovation. It has two drawers for rotating skewers on which chunks of meats and vegetables can be placed or hot dogs which are then cooked perfectly as a result of the rotation of the skewers. In addition, it has a reversible non-stick plate which sits above the skewer drawers and provides grill or griddle functions. The feature set for these units (not all the features listed are available on all models) include reversible (grill or griddle) and removable non-stick plates which are dishwasher friendly, presses with adjustable covers for different thicknesses of food, thermostats, drip trays to collect grease from the plates during cooking etc.
As may be seen from all of the above, Cuisinart, with its entire product range and with its Cuisinart Griddler range in particular, is very committed to making a difference in terms of efficiency and ease of use in the fast paced world in which we find ourselves.
